Princess Hairston
Princess A. Hairston is an editor and filmmaker based in New York City. She has been editing in film and television for the past 7 years. Princess worked on the Emmy-nominated series Capture with Mark Seliger. She was an editor on the documentary film Fresh Dressed, an official selection at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Princess was lead editor for Prudential\’s Masterpiece of Love campaign, a series of short films celebrating life, love and art. Princess also works with ad agencies and production companies on short films, branded content and commercials. She is a 2018/19 recipient of the Karen Schmeer Editing Fellowship Diversity in the Edit Room Program. Princess recently joined the Women\’s Weekend Film Challenge and created a short narrative film in 72 hours with a fantastic group of women filmmakers.
Princess also directs and produces documentary films, narrative and doc series and branded content. Princess wrote, produced, directed and edited United States vs White Men, a narrative short set in the year 2050 which showcases the new world order of adapting to various cultures and all races through interrogation. She produced, directed, and edited Don\’t Expel the Blacks in just 72 hours, a short documentary in which residents of Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn explain the effects gentrification has on their intimate community. Her shorts have been official selections for several film festivals in 2018. Her feature-length documentary Tracing the Hairstons, a film which reveals the struggles and triumphs of a family that is bound by a name through the worst atrocity in American history is in post-production, expected completion 2019. Princess was the 2018 winner of the WEtv pitch event held by New York Television Festival.
